Discovering Web 2.0 tools

For the Web 2.0 Awards nominees, one of my favorites is Im Cooked. I'm interested in cooking and baking, but honestly I'm not a good cooker:(, but it's enjoyable for me to read cooking books and watch cooking programs. Im cooked is an awesome web community for video recipe sharing , step by step. Heaps of fun. Watching it!

Some online productivity

I created a free account in Zoho Writer, I found it quite helpful if you don't want to carry a memory stick with you all the time. You can create your document at home and view or edit it by at work thru internet, and you can release your document to the public, sounds a bit like WiKi.

Social Networking

I did look around about Check it out , Myspace and Facebook. I found there were 8 libraries who had already registered with Facebook. I registered with Facebook cos I thought it was a good way to keep in touch with your friends by sharing photos and videos. And you can relink with your old classmates whom you haven't been met for years.

On Library 2.0 & Web 2.0

I read through those different thoughts on Library 2.0 and web 2.0, I tend to agree with Michael Stephens that Librarian 2.0 is a trendspotter and it controls technolust. Also I agree with Chip Nilges that Web.0 is a powerful way to cooperate with user and collect their intelligence, and also web 2.0 and Library 2.0 can build better data of library information and technology. Apparently Web 2.0 is a significant way to expose expand and extend data of library service. And Dr. Wendy Schultz's steps of Library 1.0-4.0 is quite amazing, they can change our ways of interacting and sharing information with our users.

Getting not-so-technical with Technorati

I took a look at technorati and tried the keywork search for "learning 2.0' and found different results in blog posts, in tags and in the blog directory. I tried the Boing Boing and Techcrunch-two of the top 100 blogs, and I was surprised by the results-185,265 blog reactions about Techcrunch@

Week 6: Tagging, folksonomies & Technorati

I did spend a lot of time exploring http://del.icio.us/, and I have to say it is amazing. It is a useful tool to find relevant information cos they are related by a partcular subject and easy to access. And the most important thing is by using the tag you can access those information by the tag even if you use different computers.
Also I did some search about the tags and found there were 28740 items with "web 2.0"......

Playing around with PBWiki

This task is really a play and fun one, but first of all you need to read through the instruction,so you can get the key which allows you to access the webpage. I did add my comments on favourite destination and favourite number.

Wiki Wiki

Wiki(comes from the Hawaiian phrase"wiki wiki") is a quick-to-build, easy-to-edit website that allows all the users to add, remove or edit information easily. It can be used as an online community board to give ideas, suggestions and comments, and those informations are easy to be edited and deleted. So it seems Wiki is not a safe way to share your ideas with your friends online if you don't want these information to be seen by the public.

But anyway Wiki can a good library tool, the customers can use it to share their reading suggestions.
I found the St. Joseph County Public Library System is a user friendly pathfinder. Here is the link

MSN-Windows Live Messenger

MSN is such an amzing tool to help me chat with my friends and family members overseas, and to share photos, music, even videos with them. I can store as many photos as I want in my MSN account and don't need to worry about losing them when my computer is down. It is so wonderful to imagine that even in 30 years these photos and videos are still there to refresh my memory! This is the website http://www.msn.com/
